Choosing the Right Artificial Christmas Tree

Taking centre-stage in many living rooms over the festive period, Christmas trees are a must-have when it comes to decorating your home at winter and, with that being said, it’s important that you find the right one. While nothing beats the authenticity of a real fir tree, an artificial one is a great alternative, available in multiple colours and styles and lasting year after year. Here are a few things to consider when choosing one…

Indoors or outdoors

Firstly, is the Xmas tree you’re after going to be displayed inside your house or in your outdoor space? Unique LED pine trees will help your garden decorations to stand out, while there’s no end to the options for indoor faux firs.

Decorative style

If you like to keep to a theme when decorating, then this is the best way to narrow down the overwhelming options. Darker or pure white trees will really enhance a modern theme, while a traditional style will benefit from standard green pine needles. If you’re looking for glamour, then search for one with pinecones or snow-tipped branches as they product a stunning sparkle when the light catches them.

Size

Consider where you’re going to be placing your tree indoors and think about the amount of space you have. Whilst getting a huge 8ft tree may seem appealing, it’s not a realistic choice unless you have high ceilings and plenty of room. The standard height for artificial Xmas trees is 6ft or 6.5ft, dismantling for easy storage and re-use next year. If you have a smaller living room or you’re looking to decorate a second room, then a 4ft, 3ft, or even a 1ft tree may be a better option as they still create a focal point without getting in the way.

You’ll also want to think about the width and diameter of the tree. If you don’t want to lose too much floor space then a slim tree may be the perfect solution. Still standing tall, these slender trees give off an elegant vibe without swallowing up space where guests could perch.

Tips

The more tips a tree has, the more space there is for hanging decorations on it. Trees with lots of tips (over 1000) are fantastic for those with loads of baubles, while trees with fewer tips are ideal if you think less is more when decorating.

Pre-lit

A great way to save you time and energy when you’ve got a whole house to decorate, pre-lit trees don’t need to be wrapped in string lights as they're already designed with them. Just assemble them, plug them in, and switch them on for a magical Christmas display.

Let it snow

If you’re looking to truly wow your guests, then you can go all-out with a cascading snow tree which circulates surrounding fake snow to create a beautiful and endless cascade. Bringing the magic of winter inside your home, this is a splendid option for those that want to go the extra mile with their modern theme.

Once you've found your perfect tree, gather the family round and personalise it with your own baubles, tinsel, and a shining bright topper.
