Beating Boredom on Long Journeys

Everything packed for your exciting holiday? Well, you may want to consider bringing something to cure the inevitable boredom that comes with long journeys. Whether you’re travelling by plane, boat, train, or car, having a fun game to play or music to listen to is a sure-fire way to make time go by faster – after all, they say time flies when you’re having fun. Here are a few ways to keep you and your family entertained while getting from A to B.

Travel-sized Games

There are numerous, equally engaging games that have been made with travel in mind. Card games is a wonderful example, with plenty of variety, including Top Trumps if battling it out with others is your thing. Or perhaps you want to keep those brains ticking with a round of trivia. Easy to carry and play on the go, making a quick challenge to your loved ones is as easy as carrying a set of cards in your bag or pocket.

Keep your mind active and on the move with an assortment of perplexing puzzles. Work your way through crosswords and word searches while you wait, or challenge yourself further with a puzzle cube and IQ tests.

Fidget Fingers

Keeping your hands active, as well as your mind, is a simple and easy way to keep the boredom at bay. Take along something that’s specifically designed to keep your fingers active, such as a fidget spinner, putty, or a stress reliever. Why not take along some pencils and paper and work on your sketching techniques?

Music

A good pair of headphones or earphones is a must-have item if you want to zone out. Sometimes, nothing beats plugging in and switching on your personal playlist while you gaze out of the window and slouch back into your seat.

Snooze

If all else fails, take a nap! Travelling can be extremely tiring, especially if your departure times are particularly early or late in the day. Close your eyes and catch up on those forty winks. If it’s bright, put on an eye mask. If you’re on a coach or bus, then set an alarm or ask someone else to wake you up before your stop or your holiday might not be in the destination you had planned.

Now you know exactly what you need, take a good look through our entire Cards, Puzzles & Board Games Department before you shoot off for an awesome holiday!
