2023 Wedding Trends

If you’re planning a wedding for 2023 but aren’t sure where to begin when hammering details like décor or seating, here at The Range, we’ve gathered a short list of our favourite trends to help you get the picture-perfect wedding.

Pampas Grass

Pampas Grass is a soft, subtle, unique, and romantic-looking plant perfect for any wedding. If you’re not into big, floral centrepieces and their sometimes-overwhelming scent, then pampas are the ideal compromise; it’s a pretty plant with plenty of uses that don’t become ostentatious. Pampas has seen a big boom in home decorating, and now people want to include this lovely plant in their weddings. Some brides like to use it as a base for their bouquet, but you could also hang it from the ceiling for a rustic feel in your venue, decorate the wedding arch with it, or place stems in vases on the tables for your sit-down meal.

Ghost Chairs

This trend is perfect for those who love to keep things modern. Ghost chairs are made from clear Perspex or acrylic, allowing your décor and table settings to flow right through, uninterrupted by the chairs around the table. As they reflect and blend in with their surroundings, these chairs are perfect for couples who would prefer to put their attention on other areas of décor, allowing the space to feel balanced and harmonious, as some coloured or traditional chairs could make a venue feel too chaotic if you’re going all out. They also work well for minimalist weddings.

Colour

Gone are the days of the subtle wedding colour palette full of gentle pastel tones and romantic materials. It’s all about vibrant colours and statement patterns now, and after several years of low-key weddings, we couldn’t be happier about this trend. The Pantone colour of the year is Viva Magenta – a rich, luxurious red, whilst Dulux has picked Wild Wonder – a yellow tone inspired by nature. These colours are brilliant options that will be on-trend for the year, but many people are opting for bright and bold orange and terracotta tones, too – especially suited to those looking for a unique take on nature-themed designs.

Mismatched Bridesmaids

Your bridesmaids will have different body types and styles, so there’s a chance that not every bridesmaid will feel comfortable or beautiful in the same dress. You can avoid this by having bridesmaids wearing different colours in the same (perfect if you’re choosing to focus on colour for your décor) or the same colour in different dresses. Even if you’ve decided your bridesmaids shouldn’t be matching, having them coordinate to differentiate them from other guests or wedding party members is a good idea. Of course, you don’t have to stick to this, and you can let your bridesmaids choose whatever they want to wear for a more casual approach.

Sustainability

This has been one of the biggest wedding trends over recent years, and it’s not going away any time soon. Couples want to make their wedding as environmentally friendly as possible, as holding a big wedding could impact the environment more than you think. If you want to implement this yourself, you can send out invites printed on recycled paper, send digital ones, use potted plants instead of flowers (guests could even take these home as favours!), or choose a plant-based menu.

Search the internet for eco-conscious vendors and consider creating a carpool system or hiring a shuttle bus to take guests to and from the venue to reduce everyone’s carbon footprint.
