Decoration Ideas for Autumn Weddings

Thanks to the gorgeous weather and abundance of fresh flowers and foliage, it can be easy to know how to decorate for a spring or summer wedding. However, if you've opted for an autumnal affair, you might find it more difficult.

Here at The Range, we've got you covered when decorating for your autumn wedding.

Seasonal Foliage

Autumn is full of gorgeous, rich, and warm colours that are the perfect natural element to any wedding in the autumn months. Try creating table centrepieces from asters, marigolds, chrysanthemums and rudbeckia for a colourful display that you can coordinate with your bridal bouquet. If you want a permanent keepsake from your big day, our faux autumnal foliage can be kept and reused for special occasions such as your wedding anniversary.

Pumpkins

Pumpkins are plentiful around autumn, and these seasonal gourds are perfect for creating a rustic feel that pairs well with natural woods. You might even decide to carve your pumpkins with heart designs, yours and your fiance's name, or more complex ideas like entwined hands for a truly romantic feel. Fill your carved pumpkins with tealights for a dazzling display, especially for evening ceremonies.

Unique Place Settings

Whilst you're talking brisk walks amongst the leaves, collect pinecones you find to use as a quirky and natural holder for your place settings. Simply clean up your pinecones, and if you want a little more sparkle, brush a little gold glitter onto the edges, then pop your place cards between the scales and set them on your tables. If you can't find enough pinecones, you might want to include a few large leaves calligraphed with your guests' names.

Soft Lighting

For an extra cosy feel on your wedding day, you might want to consider decorating your ceremony and reception venue with string lights (this is especially effective around high beams on the ceiling or wrapped around pillars), candles, and lanterns. Place LED lanterns or lit candles on the tables and clusters of LEDs in corners of rooms, and you can enjoy a gentle flicker of soft, warming light throughout your wedding day.

Halloween Inspired

Suppose you've chosen an autumn wedding because you and your partner love Halloween, horror, or anything spooky. In that case, this is a great excuse to include Halloween decorations in your venue decor.

You might go all-out with a horror wedding by hanging traditional Halloween characters such as skeletons or bats from the ceiling, adding faux spiders to the wedding chairs as decor, or even welcoming your guests to the venue with groundbreakers near the entrance. This Halloween theme still works brilliantly with the pumpkins we mentioned earlier, and you can even have traditional Halloween carved pumpkins included in your decor.

Alternatively, you can keep the Halloween theme more subtle by giving your space a gothic edge - perfect if you're getting married in an ancient, creepy, or historical building. You can achieve this by including black and red tones in your decor. For example, the Halloween Wreath is a simple but effective Halloween decoration for a toned-down version of a Halloween wedding that will look beautiful on doors or windows. Line the aisle with black lanterns, and you've created a suitably romantic yet eerie feel that will have all your guests talking!
