Whether you've got kids to entertain over the school holidays or simply want to inject some festive fun into your home, we've compiled a list of exciting crafting ideas to help you decorate your home for Easter.
Easter baskets are excellent for egg hunts or placing around the home to use as springtime decorative pieces. Youngsters will love fun sets like the Make Your Own Felt Easter Basket, which will allow them to unleash their creative side by making their own adorable felt bunny basket. Another way to make Easter baskets is by upcycling baskets you may already have around your home. Excellent if you just want to make temporary changes, simply get some card, blu tack and paints to create fun, springtime designs such as chicks, eggs and bunnies and then stick them to the baskets with the blu tac. Then when Easter is over, you can remove the decorations and save them for next year.
Making DIY artwork pieces will be a lot of fun for the whole family and is a more understated way to decorate your home for Easter. All you need is some frames, card or felt, scissors, glue and paints, glitter and any other embellishments you may want to use. Everyone in your family can make a fun design, whether it's a felt egg with a cool glitter pattern, a cute little bunny or a classic springtime chick, and then when everyone's finished you can stick your designs onto a piece of card, frame the card and then hang your designs around your home.
Exciting and easy, bunting is a wonderful way to add some festive fun anywhere in your home. All you need is a template, some string, glue, scissors and decorations. Bunnies are a great idea for Easter bunting, just find a bunny template you like, cut out multiple copies with it and then you can use pom poms for the tail. Particularly ideal for kids, egg bunting is another fun option. Simply cut out some egg shapes and allow youngsters to decorate them however they like and then hang them on the piece of string. You could even do a combination of the two ideas!
Elegant and graceful, hanging decorations can be used all around the home during springtime. There's a wide variety of ways you can make these, but one of the most fun is using salt dough. To make salt dough simply mix 250g of flour, 150g of salt and 150ml of water together. Once combined, roll it out on a floured surface and use an egg, chick or bunny-shaped cookie cutter to make the shapes. Poke a hole through the top (so you can attach your string or ribbon) and then bake for 3 hours. After they've cooled you can set up a painting station where your whole family can decorate them. Once they're dry, attach string or ribbon and hang them up.
