Venetian Blinds have always been a staple of simple home décor, and recently they’ve had a boom in popularity thanks to their stylish design, ease of use, and affordability – especially if you get them from us! Of course, it's important to ensure that your blinds fit your windows and to do that, you’ll need to find out the correct measurements before you purchase anything. Luckily for you, we’ve written up an easy to follow guide on how to measure your windows for a set of Venetian blinds.
- Measure your window across in three places: The top, bottom, and middle
- Make sure to take into account any obstructions or accents on the wall, such as tiling, skirting boards, or runners.
- From the three measurements you’ve taken, make a solid note of the smallest
- Repeat this process for the height, measuring across each far side and the centre.
- Measure the depth of any window handles or other obstructions, making a note so you know how far away from the window you will need to place your blinds.

- Now you have your new blinds, you need to install them over your window. Typically, Venetian blinds come with instructions and fitting accessories included, but it's always nice to read a how-to guide early on.
- First, make sure you know where you need to drill. Place the blind brackets at the top of your window, where you will mount your blind, and mark the holes with a pencil.
- Make sure this is all aligned. Perhaps use a spirit level, or ask for a second opinion on lining everything up correctly
- Drill a small hole over your pencil markings, and then reset your brackets and secure them to the wall with screws.
- Now the brackets have been installed, turn to the blind. Make sure it is fully rolled up, and find the swingarm, which is on the rail arm.
- Push it back anti-clockwise, and set the blind into the brackets. Then push the swingarm back.
- Check your blind works smoothly and is secure by pulling it down with the drawstring.
Now your blinds have been installed, you can pull them up and down at your leisure to let the perfect amount of sunlight into your home!
