Guide to an Almost Painless Spring Clean

Spring cleaning your home can be a daunting task, but it’s one that feels fantastic once it’s done. It’s best to tackle one room at a time, as this breaks it down into bite-sized chunks and makes it much easier to manage. Have a tidy before you begin, and get three baskets ready - one for items to keep, one for items to store away, and one for items to throw out. Put on your favourite music, then get cleaning!

Here at The Range, we've got all the cleaning essentials you need to help leave your home spotless and sparkling ahead of the Spring season. From hard-working cleaning products to durable dustpans, wipes and cloths to absorbent brushes and mops, our extensive selection of cleaning accessories are sure to help do all the hard work for you.

Kitchen

Leave the oven and stove top until last, as these are usually the most dirty parts of the kitchen. Begin by clearing out your cupboards, throwing out old food and sorting through your pots and pans. Once you’ve cleared a cupboard, wash it down, getting rid of dirt and grease that might have accumulated. Once your cupboards are clean and organised, head onto the drawers. Throw away unnecessary items, such as old appliance manuals, leaving only the important stuff. Put the dishwasher on self-cleaning mode, and wash down the walls with a damp cloth and soapy water. If your oven is really dirty, you might need to clean this overnight with a specialist oven cleaner, which is why we recommend leaving it until last.

When it comes to cleaning your kitchen, our top products include the Buster kitchen plughole unblocker, Elbow Grease Power Paste, ever-versatile Duzzit Amazing Baking Soda 500g.

Living Room

Get together your furniture polish, glass cleaner and microfibre cloths and dusters. Take down your curtains, putting them through a wash to freshen them up, along with cushion covers. Clear your surfaces and dust them down, cleaning ornaments and photo frames. Move onto any wall art, including mirrors, giving these a good wipe and clean. Take these down afterwards, and sponge down your walls with soapy water. Finally, give the room a thorough vacuum, including your upholstery and underneath any furniture.

Got stubborn and well-worn stains on your carpet? Why not try something that offers a deeper clean such as the Astonish Premium Carpet Upholstery Cleaner 750ml.

Bathroom

Begin by sorting toiletries and throwing away old bottles and anything you don’t need. Put everything else into a box and keep it to one side while you blitz the bathroom. Put all towels, flannels and bath mats into the wash to freshen them up. Then, working from one end of the bathroom to the other, begin cleaning the sink, bath and shower.

Wash down the tiles and splashbacks, before dusting down any storage cabinets and cleaning the mirrors until they sparkle! Products such as Elbow Grease Cream Cleaner and Astonish Mould and Mildew Blaster Spray are guaranteed to help make light work of tough, worn-in stains and streaks.

Give the toilet a deep clean with help from products such as thick bleach or convenient toilet cleaning tabs, before finishing off by polishing the taps and dusting any light fittings. Give the floor a vacuum or a mop, before putting back all your toiletries.

Bedroom

Begin clearing out your wardrobes and drawers of clothes you no longer need. This will free up space for you to put away odds and ends that might be cluttering your surfaces, such as toiletries. Strip the bed, putting all bedding in the wash, as well as curtains and cushion covers. Vacuum the mattress before flipping it onto the other side, and plump up your pillows and duvets. Next, dust your light fittings with the help of a Radiator Duster Microfibre Cloth, and wash down the walls, before clearing the surfaces of clutter and giving them a good dust. Finally, vacuum the whole room, especially underneath the bed and storage furniture. Got surfaces to clean? Make sure you clean them thoroughly with polish.
