It goes without saying that you’ll need something to carry your food and drink in. Baskets work well as they are spacious and often have specific areas to hold your plates, glasses and cutlery. A cool bag is essential if you have any food that needs to stay cold, as well as for keeping drinks nice and chilled.
Not only are plastic dinner plates and glasses difficult to break, they are also lightweight and stackable, allowing you to transport them to the most picturesque and remote picnic spot.
Your favourite summer playlist can be the backdrop to your picnic, whether it’s pumping tunes or laid back vibes. Wireless speakers are perfect for trips outdoors, and allow everyone to enjoy the music.
For the more active amongst you, outdoor games like rounders and badminton are essentials for a fun picnic. Easy to play and great fun, they are a great way to while away an afternoon and work up an appetite.
If you plan on extending your picnic into the evening, then consider getting some citronella candles to keep pesky mosquitoes and biting insects at bay. They simply stake into the ground, can be used on a tabel, or hung up, and they also provide lovely ambient lighting.
