Fun Childrens Birthday Party

Planning a Kid's Birthday Party

We all want to make sure that our kid’s parties are full of fun and laughter. Organising them can seem overwhelming with everything from entertainment and games to food and party bags. It doesn’t have to be that way, though! As long as you have the essentials planned, everything else will fall into place, not to mention that most kids are just happy to have a fun time with their friends! Here’s our guide to planning a party your kids will remember.

Choose a Theme

Choosing a fun theme will help you choose decorations, music and any costumes. This is a great way to get your child involved from the beginning and can be focused on their favourite characters or TV shows. This also makes for some great photo opportunities and can make fun and creative invitations and party bags.

Guest Lists

The guest list should be one of the first things to tick off your list. The size of the party depends on the age of your child and where you’re holding the party. It’s essential to make sure that the best friend can make it, and if they can’t, consider changing the date. The company will be much more important to your child than anything else. Make sure you have enough people to enjoy plenty of party games, but not so many you’ll lose control! You’ll want to make sure the parents can make it for extra supervision for younger kids and toddlers.

Party Games

The life and soul of kids parties should be a healthy mix of high-energy games and calming activities. The best games take little preparation and cost next to nothing to do. Some of our favourites are games everyone knows, including pass the parcel, musical chairs, balloon pop, Simon Says and even a pinata for some raucous fun. There’s an endless variety of games that can be tailored to your child’s favourite things and their age.

Decorations

Decorating for the party is fun for all the family, and the only limit is your imagination. Streamers, banners, balloons and bunting can all be draped around the house, which you can base around your chosen theme. A place full of magical decorations will transport your kids away and stimulate their imaginations.

Music

A party wouldn’t be a party without some good music. Make a playlist or get some compilation CDs to save you time. Using music from kids films and TV shows is always a popular choice, and you can tailor the songs to suit your chosen theme, such as Disney, for example. The music should be upbeat to keep energy levels high, although you can help calm things down towards the end of the party with something more lo-fi.
