How do I take care of my Christmas doormat? 

As you can imagine, a mat that sits outside during winter and one of the busiest times of year for receiving visitors, is going to take a fair amount of use and wear for the time it's out. 

If you want to get the best from it for the years to come, here’s what to do. Most of our rugs fall into 3 main categories:

• Machine washable fabric - These clearly state in the manufacturer’s guidance that they can be machine washed. We’d recommend washing on a cold cycle with a small amount of mild detergent. Air dry the mat flat, don’t tumble dry. 
• Not machine washable fabric - Don’t machine wash if it’s not explicitly mentioned that you can. The process could warp, fade or shrink the mat. Instead, shake off dirt and clean dirty spots with a damp cloth. 
• Brush and jute - Brush your mat with stiff bristles to get rid of any debris. Rinse off with a hose if needed, then brush whilst damp. Air dry and ensure it’s completely dry before using again or putting it into storage.

Once you’ve cleaned and dried your Christmas mat, it can be stored away, ready to bring you joy all over again next year.
