What is Swell Planted Aquarium Phosphorus? Swell Planted Aquarium Phosphorus is a professional fertiliser that contains 1% phosphorus, which is an essential macro-element for the proper nutrition of aquatic plants. If plants don't get enough phosphorus, their growth will be slowed down in every way, including their leaves, stems, and roots. This can also cause deficiencies of other elements because phosphorus plays an important role in plant metabolism. Without enough phosphorus, plants can't absorb iron, sulphur, and potassium, which can have a knock-on effect on their ability to absorb other nutrients. On the other hand, if there is too much phosphorus in the aquarium, the levels of phosphate (PO4) can become very high, which can lead to the growth of brush and brown algae, which are difficult to remove. Plants need more phosphorus in aquariums that are well-lit and have plenty of CO2. The optimum level of phosphorus in an average planted aquarium is between 0.5 and 1.5 mg/lt. Swell Planted Aquarium Phosphorus is safe for fish and shrimp. How do I use this treatment? To use Swell Planted Aquarium Phosphorus, add 8ml (1 capful, which is equal to 5ml) of the fertiliser to every 100 litres of water. This will raise the phosphate level in the aquarium by 0.05 mg/l.
