As some of you may be entering exam season, it’s natural to be feeling worried or stressed about what is to come. That’s why we’ve put together our exam survival tips to help see you through.
Ideally, it’s best to revise all year round, but if you’re finding yourself cramming last minute, it’s important you prioritise and plan ahead. Organisation is the best thing you can do for yourself during exam season, so it’s advisable to get a planner to help you.
Think about how, where and when you work best to develop a routine that works effectively for you. Consider whether you work better in the morning or the evening; if you need quiet or if you’d rather listen to music; you may work better solo, or you could start up a study group so you can ask one another questions.
It’s sensible to have some snacks on hand while you revise, but it’s important you choose something healthy and balanced. For example, fruit and nuts are perfect to snack on while you work. It’s also crucial to stay hydrated. As much as it can be tempting to guzzle down the caffeine or sugary drinks, water is going to be your best friend!
Working without breaks is only going to burn you out, so it’s important to take some time for a breather. There are various study methods people use to schedule their breaks, like taking 5 minutes every 25 minutes of studying. Try watching your favourite show or talking with your friends – whatever will help you relax in that time.
If you can, completing past papers or questions is a great way to prepare for your exams. It gets you adjusted to the format of the exam. If you don’t have access to these, you and your friends can make questions for one another.
Now you have everything set in order to revise to the best of your ability. Take 5 minutes to yourself before and after your exam to take some deep breaths and relax. Talking about it will likely make you more stressed, so just take a moment and trust in yourself. Good luck!
