Skeleton

A traditional costume that’s suitable for all ages is the skeleton. Either try out a ready-made costume or if you want to get really creative, cut out shapes of bones in white card and stick them to black clothing! Go all out and paint your face with a scary skull and you’ll be all set.

Zombie

A zombie is one of the most versatile costumes to make, you can zombify practically anything! From a bride, a pirate, or just a normal person, you’re sure to find something easily. Make some cuts and tears in some old clothes, paint your eyes with dark circles, and perhaps add a squirt of fake blood to complete the look. If you get a group of your friends to go along with you, you’ll look like a real zombie apocalypse!

Witch

Another classic Halloween costume is the witch. A black dress and a pointy hat are the basics required for this costume, but add in a broom, some makeup and long red nails and you’re on your way to becoming a real sorceress. Perhaps you could take inspiration from some of your favourite witches, such as Hermione Granger, the Wicked Witch of the West, or Maleficent.

Masks and Face Paint

For the low-maintenance, low-effort Halloween costume, simply add a scary mask. A Halloween mask can transform any outfit into a spooky ensemble! Of course, you can always dress to match the mask to create a full costume, then you’ll be truly terrifying!

If you’re really creative or know someone else who can help, then you can create a look with some frightening face paint. Add fake blood to look truly fearsome! If you don't want to look super scary, you can always paint the face of your favourite cartoon character or animal for something different!

Dressing up for Halloween is great fun no matter how old you are. Hopefully, you’ve been inspired by our costume ideas, and you’ve found the perfect outfit for your spooky celebrations! Brose our Halloween section for all of your other Halloween essentials such as decorations, crafts and more.
